How to tell window not to keep history of recently opened documents?

In a window operating system,if you open a document,a shortcut to it will be showed in the My Recent Documents from the Start menu.Sometimes, you don't want window do that.To prevent Window and installed programs from creating and displaying shortcuts to recently opened documents you can follow some simple steps below.

  • Type the "gpedit.msc" command in the Run command box from Start menu

  • In the Group Policy window, double click on the User Configuration on the left side,=>double click on the Administrative Templates, then Start Menu and Taskbar Desktop

  • Now,on the right side, find the row Do not keep history of recently opened documents and right click on it,then choose Properties

  • From the Setting tab in the Properties window, choose Enabled option

  • That's all! Enjoy!
