Be careful when using Google Adsense and other advertising networks on the same page

Some publishers increase their earnings by placing different ads of different advertising networks on their websites. How about using Google Adsense together with others? The answer is you should be careful when doing that. Your Adsense account can be suspended if you violate its TOS and the Google AdSense Program Policies.

In the Google AdSense Program Policies, you must read carefully the term below:

Competitive Ads and Services
We do not permit Google ads or search boxes accessing Google search services to be published on web pages that also contain what could be considered competing ads or services.

Some webmasters read this term and realize that they can use other advertising networks' ads on their websites but they must not be placed on the same page. The Google AdSense Program Policies also says that:

This would include ads that mimic
Google ads or otherwise appear to be associated with Google on your site.

This doesn't mean that you can place any others' ads on your website when you think they doesn't compete with Google Adsense.AdBrite is one of the most popular advertising networks on the internet. AdBrite says that it accepts ads from Google Adsense on the same page with its. AdBrite's publishers think that: AdBrite doesn't mimic Google, except from the fact that it's a list of text links, kind of hard to disallow all text links for fear someone might think it's Google text. Well, this is a risk! We all don't know whether one nice day Google think that the ads you are using are competing with their ads. As a result, your account will be terminated.

An advice for this problem is: before deciding to do something that might violate Google Adsense 's TOS or Google AdSense Program Policies, you should email Google to ask for permission. That's a wise choice.

How to turn off the debug function in IE

Internet Explorer users often receive an dialog box with a message like this ("Error. A Runtime Error has occurred. Do you want to debug?"), which pops up whenever there's a bug in the JavaScript you run into on a website. It makes many people be tired of using IE. This is a function of IE which Microsoft gives us. If you're an IE's user, perhaps you've already know what I'm taking about and you might see that message at less once. When you accepted to debug by clicking Debug, you had no idea what to do with that information. Many users feel annoyed when they see that message box. Fortunately, because it is a function of IE, it's an option, we can turn off it easily.

In either IE6 or IE7, you click the Tools menu > Internet Options, then click the Advanced tab.
Make sure there are check marks next to "Disable Script Debugging (Internet Explorer)" and "Disable Script Debugging (Other)." as you can see in the image. Then the final step you have to do is to uncheck the box next to "Display a notification about every script error."

Each time IE crashes, Window places an error reporting on your computer. You can disable this task too. In Windows XP, you can go to the Control Panel > choose System, continue by clicking Advanced tab, then click "Error Reporting" at the bottom of the screen. Click the radio button next to "Disable error reporting." You can turn off "But notify me when critical errors occur" by unchecking it if you want.

How to increase Google Adsense earning is a popular topic which people often discuss on forums and blogs. People do many tips to get more and more traffic to their websites and then they begin thinking of good earnings. Remember to use your keywords in your page title.

You should create a keyword rich content. I suggest you creating one topic a page.

After that you can check your keyword rich content and then mark some of your keywords as bold or italic. But don't do it too much, just do it 2 or 3 times per page. Otherwise, Google assumes you are doing spamming.

You can use HTML Tag Hn as your content title, and put your keywords in it. Remember to place this tag at the beginning of your content.

Look at the HTML code, if you are using a classical template, you should delete the <$BlogMetaData$> in the <head> tag. Keep yourself safe from cookies

When you visit a webpage or do searching from a search engine, you're particularly vulnerable. Because the website will have a record of all of your activities or searches. It uses cookies to track you from session to session. To prevent this, you can frequently delete cookies from your computer. But cookies can be quite useful, for example by logging you in to some sites automatically, or saving your preferences on how you use sites. For example, when you log in your Blogger account, Blogger create cookies on your PC with information allowing you to access your account. After deleting your cookies, if you want to go to another section in your account, Blogger will ask you for user name and password again.

There is a simpler solution for this problem. That is to block only some websites from placing cookies on your PC. Here I only talk about how to do it in Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2 . Other browsers are left for you.

In Internet Explorer 7, you choose Tools-->Internet Options, then click the Privacy tab, continue by clicking the Sites button. In the "Address of website" box, type in the website's URL you want to block( you need not to type the http:// in the address box, for example, www.donotplacecookies.com) and click Block (see image). From now on, when you visit that site, it won't be allowed to place a cookie on your hard disk, and it won't be able to track your activities or searches.

In Firefox 2, you start by selecting Tools-->Options, select the Privacy tab, and then click Exceptions. Then type the website's URL you want to block into the "Address of Web site" box and click Block.

For others browsers, you can use this same technique to keep cookies off your hard disk as well.

One of the best ways to increase your website's traffic is to submit your website to search engines such as Google.com ,Msn.com ,Yahoo.com ...By this way, people can find your website when they search for a specific keyword. To enable search engines index your site, you must place some meta tags in your site's source code. META Tags are HTML tags which provide information that describes the content of the webpages a user will be viewing. Search engines have recognized that website owners and administrators can use this resource to control their positioning and descriptions in search engine results. There are many relative meta tags you should include to your blog's template. In this article, I only talk about the most five popular meta tags: keywords, description, author, revisit-after, and robots.

Author META Tag
The author META tag defines the name of the author of the document being read. This tag is not widely supported but is recognized as part of the META Tag standard. The most common format is to insert the name of the person or organization and a contact email address.

Keywords META Tag
Search engines that support META tags will often use the keywords found on your pages as a means to categorize your website based on the search engines indexing algorithms (proprietary algorithms which index your website in search engine databases).

Description META Tag
Search engines that support META tags will often display the Description META tag along with your title in their results. Search engines will often capture the entire META tag of your description field, but webmasters should bear in mind that when a search engine displays the results to a user, the space is limited, usually under 20 words which you can use to grab the attention of a user. For this reason, when creating your META tags, webmasters should make the first sentence of their description field to capture the attention of a user and use the rest of the description tag to elaborate further.

Robots, also known as spiders, are automated mechanisms that spider your site, or search your site on how to categorize the information you submitted to the search engine. Typically, a website owner would submit the main page and the robots would visit your site and collect all subpages and related links from your main page. which to index and which to ignore completely.

Revisit META Tag
The Revisit META tag defines how often a search engine or spider should come to your website for re-indexing. Often this tag is used for websites that change their content often and on a regular basis. MP3Gain is easy to use with the friendly interface. Just click the Add File(s) button if you want to change the volume of a single file, or click the Add Folder button to change the volume of a list of mp3 songs in a specific folder.Then click Track Analysis button to analyze the volume level of your songs.Finally, click Track Gain to gain the volume.



The default volume is 89.0 dB.You can change it higher or lower. But I recommend you should only change the volume frequency from 85.0dB to 95.0dB, otherwise your mp3s' quality will be dropped down.After downloading,extract the zip file and double click the MP3GainGUI.exe to run directly. Installation will not be required to run it.After using MP3Gain, tell me if you like it.

Google free proxy

Access restricted web sites using Google language tools service as a proxy.

A little tutorial found on the italian site www.manuali.net inspired me for this hack. That tutorial suggests to translate a webpage, using Google translator, to access it even if restricted.It worked fine but something else was needed... why translate?!

Ok, let's start from the beginning. We all know that Google is more than a search engine; we do use it as provider for email, mapping, news and many other services. Google is now also a free proxy service. Proxy is a device that stands between a PC and the internet, providing all the connections to the world wide web. What a proxy does is to receive all data from a requested site, so when you access web pages all data come from proxy.

What's the purpose for Google as a proxy? We often use office/school/university connections, usually those services are set to provide more safety, blocking the access to undesidered web sites (the "black list"). What you can do now is use Google translator service (language tools) as a proxy to bypass the restrictions set for our connection!

You just need to type the following URL:

http://www.google.com/translate?langpair=enen&u=www.forbiddensite.com
(www.forbiddensite.com stands for the URL you need to go to...)

What you'll get is the translation (english to english!) of the page you want to see... your connection is directed to a google.com page so this page won't be blocked (would be blocked only with google.com on the black list), no matter what's the content.

Notice that the URL has been a little hacked because the parameter "langpair" is set to "enen" (english/english) so the page is processed by Google but you can keep the original language of the page (no need to translate!). If you need another language (e.g. french) you just need to set the parameter langpair to "frfr" and you'll be able to read french pages in french!

A couple of examples:

english... http://www.google.com/translate?langpair=enen&u=hacks.oreilly.com

italian ... http://www.google.com/translate?langpair=itit&u=www.bigthistle.altervista.org

Last but not least: if you use this trick, you're not sure to protect your privacy, this kind of connection lets you see blacklisted pages but doesn't hide your IP address. Just go to http://www.google.com/translate?langpair=enen&u=www.whatismyip.com to see your IP is not hidden...

How to change the Email-This-Post icon?

In the previous post How to place an email post link to your blog?, I tell you how to enable the "email-this-post" feather of blogger. Today, I'll explain more about this feather because there're many bloggers emailing to me that they still can't enable the "email-this-post" feather. Some bloggers complain that the "email-this-post" icon isn't displayed on their blog after enabled. Others also asked me how to change the icon with text link.

This article assumes you are using a classic template (without the Layouts features). If you enabled the "email-this-post" successfully, you may see an inserted link in your blog template. Let's look at the code that is generated automatically for this link. It'll be something like this:

title="Email Post"> <span class="email-post-icon"> </span></a>

We will replace this code by our own code to change the link icon. If you still can't enable the "email-this-post", don't worry. The code below is for you, too. Now, you should go back to the Template tab in your blogger account and decide where you want to put the email links. At the end of each post is usually a good place. But you can place it wherever in between the <Blogger> tags. Once you've find a good place, copy and past this code right there:

Notice! You must replace the XXXXXXXX in the above code with your blog ID. And you can replace the EmailThis! with any text or image that you want. Now you have an "email-this-post" link as show in the image.

The number of page views is determined by how many Alexa Toolbar users visit each page in your website (duplicate visits from the same user on the same day are counted only once). Reach is measured by the number of Alexa users per million who visit your site.

The best way to increase (really, decrease, the 1 is the best ) your Alexa score is to let people who visit your site know about it. The more visitors you have who are using the Alexa toolbar, the better your score will be. A big change in PCs' operating system battle?

There are many computer operating systems in the world of computers. Perhaps, Microsoft's Window is the most popular. The another advantage when using Linux is that we can find many free softwares to run on it. One of the most popular free software title is OpenOffice, which competes with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

So, why Microsoft Window is now still more popular than Linux? The answer is its friendly and pretty interface. Window is for all kinds of users from a child to an professional engineer. Open your Window Media Player,I'm using Window Media Player 9.0,if you use other versions, I think it's just the same in the main idea,but there're just some different steps.

From the menubar choose Tools, then Options

On the Options window,choose Performance tab and then click the Advanced button.

Uncheck the Use overlays checkbox in the Video Acceleration,then click the OK button.



Now you can capture as many pictures as you want use your "Print Screen" key.I think Window Media Player is one of the best players to play music and enjoy videos.Now we all know we can capture images in Window Media Player.
